I have worked as a College Consultant and High School Guidance Counselor for approximately 30 years and a total of 35 years as an educator. My personal belief as a College Counselor is that all students can go to college if given the opportunity, the encouragement, and the understanding of the college admission process.
My main purpose as a College Counselor in the school system has been to raise the college-bound rate and the amounts of financial aid awards for my students. An example of my expertise is reflective in the accomplishment of a shift from a 45% to an 85% college-bound rate and from a $2 million to a $15 million rise in scholarship money within a span of 8 years at a high school in Tucson, AZ. I am additionally fortunate to be linked with over 70 visiting college and university representatives in keeping updated with their schools' current developments. In addition to in-state colleges and universities, my students have been accepted to and are attending schools such as Harvard, Yale, Stanford, UCLA, George Washington, Macalester, Oberlin, Columbia, U of Penn, Haverford, Rice, NYU, Howard, MIT, UC schools, Claremont schools, and many more.
I hold a Doctorate of Education in Educational Administration and School Counseling and a Masters of Education also in School Counseling from the University of Arizona, and a K-12 Principal and a K-12 Guidance Counselor certificates. My Bachelor of Arts and K-12 Teaching degree were attained from Ramapo College of New Jersey, a leading comprehensive liberal arts school. Additionally, I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC-0738) by the Board of Behavioral Health Examiners in the state of Arizona.
I have trained many interns from several universities in college counseling who have been placed nationally. As well as an established published writer in educational journals, I am also a member of several professional regional and national educational organizations. I remain continuously updated on current admission trends, frequent college visits, and present and/or attend professional conferences.
Being near retirement, I have established my own consulting service and very excited in providing the highest quality close and personal attention for my clients. My hope is to help make the difference between settling for any college or the college of your student's choice regardless of your socioeconomic level (fees are negotiable). At this time, I am accepting a limited number of students. My process involves a meeting with the student and his/her parents to review and analyze the student's academic history including transcript, resume, aptitude tests scores, college choices, activities, and financial aid possibilities. This process can be done in person, by email, or by phone. I enthusiastically look forward to helping your student.
